start

well after two back-to-back crying baby flights, and a very rocky landing (to which screaming baby #2 adequately voiced our concerns and general fears for our lives) we are here. I don´t think I´ve ever been quite so scared about landing a flight as I was with this... those Spanish winds are intense right now, that´s all I´ll say. (side note- we just found out that on Sunday, a tornado hit Malaga and caused huge destruction.)

But anyway we made our way out of Malaga airport safely and took the train to Fuengirola where we caught the bus up to the village we are staying in - Mijas. Its GORGEOUS here, on top of a mountain that overlooks the coast... and even though it was pouring rain on the ride up we were extremely excited as our bus climbed this incredible mountain with a most stunning view. All the Spanish were complaining about the rain which apparently never comes (but was nice enough to show up for us). It was kind of like a scene from a movie... us lugging our huge suitcases out of this bus, into an old cobblestone European town, in the pouring rain, with no idea of where we were going. We got rough directions from a man in a restaurant, and proceeded to lug the suitcases up the longest cobblestone staircase in Europe, I´m sure. Only to later find out that there was another entrace with an elevator.

The lady who owns the house is lovely... so nice and helpful with new ideas every day on things we can do, places to go, and different opportunities we should look into. She took us out for dinner the first night, showed us around on our second day here, and now has taken off for the week for a English program in Salamanca, that we might be looking into as well.

Her dog is Zorro and he is really funny and a delight... everything here is great, although a little chilly (we can´t really complain though). Kind of like... early fall or spring weather.

but we love it
